casa de muñecas estaba situada en la mesa más alta, junto a la ventana; el lugar
más resplandeciente de toda la habitación. Allí, en su interior de lujoso
ensueño, convivían en eterna armonía unas preciosas muñequitas de porcelana,
vestidas con maravillosos trajes de fantasía, cuyos colores creaban destellos de
ilusión a su alrededor al tiempo que realzaban la encantadora palidez de
aquellos rostros cincelados y sonrientes.<BR><BR>Aunque el increíble atractivo
de cada una de ellas estaba fuera de toda duda, la singular belleza de Celine
superaba cualquier prodigio surgido de las fuentes de la divinidad. Así era
conocido y reconocido por todos los juguetes de la habitación que, en su gran
mayoría, profesaban por Celine una profunda devoción.<BR><BR>Un regimiento de
soldados de plomo marchaba siempre alrededor de la casa de muñecas, protegiendo
su tranquilidad del posible -aunque poco probable- ataque de algún juguete
malévolo. Formaba parte de este regimiento un soldado diferente, muy diferente a
los demás, aunque sólo él era consciente de ello, pues su apariencia era
idéntica a la del resto de sus compañeros.<BR><BR>Sólo este soldado sin nombre
sintió por Celine lo que nadie sentía, sólo él pudo ver en Celine lo que nadie
veía, más allá de la insondable barrera de su belleza infinita.<BR><BR>Un día de
primavera, el soldadito de plomo, buscando el momento oportuno y armándose de
valor (más del que necesitó en todas las batallas del pasado juntas), se acercó
a Celine, que paseaba distraídamente por los jardines de la casa de muñecas.
Debía comunicarle todo lo que sólo él sabía.<BR><BR>-¡Hola Celine! –dijo
nerviosamente.<BR><BR>-¡Hola soldado! –contestó ella, siempre sonriente- ¿Qué
deseas?<BR><BR>-Yo...yo sólo quería que...que...-sus torpes palabras se ahogaron
en un mar de confusión-.<BR><BR>Celine lo miró con expresión entre divertida y
sorprendida. El soldadito, víctima de un miedo que jamás había sentido antes –el
miedo a la incomprensión-, balbuceó, con sus ojos de pintura fijos en el suelo,
las siguientes palabras:<BR><BR>-Sólo...sólo quiero que aceptes este...regalo. Y
le entregó su pequeño corazón de plomo.<BR><BR>-¡Gracias! –dijo Celine,
recogiéndolo entre sus blancas manos. Y con un fugaz movimiento, besó al
soldadito en una de sus mejillas, para alejarse después saltando alegremente
entre las doradas flores del jardín.<BR><BR>El soldadito de plomo notó que
enrojecía por dentro, y se sintió feliz.<BR><BR>Pasaron los días, y comprendió
que su agridulce fracaso a la hora de comunicarse con Celine le había afectado
profundamente. Sabía que jamás podría expresar con palabras la complejidad de
sus pensamientos ni la hondura de sus sentimientos; y la evidencia de esta
incapacidad le hacía sufrir de una forma indescriptible. Comenzó a desfilar
descompasadamente, su mirada estaba siempre perdida, e incluso llegó a extraviar
su fusil. Sus superiores lo recriminaban constantemente por su actitud y sus
compañeros de regimiento empezaron a pensar que se había estropeado por
dentro.<BR><BR>Su última esperanza estaba depositada en el fondo de su corazón.
Sólo esperaba que Celine pudiese interpretar lo que en su interior, sin duda,
estaba escrito.<BR><BR>El eco de sus oscuros pensamientos pronto se tornó
insoportable en su interior. Sin poderlo evitar, dejó la formación y corrió en
busca de Celine hasta encontrarla:<BR><BR>-Celine, tienes que darme una
respuesta, algo con lo que llenar mi cuerpo vacío.<BR><BR>-¿Acaso no es
suficiente uno de mis besos?–preguntó Celine inocentemente
extrañada.<BR><BR>-Podemos dar mil besos, pero sólo un corazón –respondió el
soldadito con tristeza.<BR><BR>-En ese caso –dijo Celine- espérame aquí un
momento, te devolveré tu corazón.<BR><BR>-¿No...no lo llevas contigo? –consiguió
decir con un hilo de voz apenas audible.<BR><BR>-¡Oh no, no podría con todos!
–contestó Celine ilusionada- ¡guardo juntos todos los corazones que los
soldaditos me regalan! Espero poder encontrar el tuyo, aunque no te preocupes,
no importa, ¡son todos iguales!<BR><BR>-Sí...todos iguales...-repitió
mecánicamente el soldadito sin nombre mientras volvía a su puesto arrastrando su
alma hecha jirones.<BR><BR>Aquel soldado de plomo luchó en mil batallas, ganó
cientos de reconocimientos y honores, y su valentía y ferocidad en combate no
tuvieron parangón. Llegó a ser con el tiempo un héroe legendario, aclamado,
temido y respetado por todos.<BR><BR>Sin embargo, nunca dejó de sentir un
profundo vacío, una extraña aflicción dentro de su pecho cubierto de medallas,
cada vez que levantaba su mirada hacia arriba, hacia la resplandeciente casa de
muñecas.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
