size=3>Lo vio una sola vez en su vida, pero nunca pudo olvidarlo. Era un maguey
azul, bajo el más intenso cielo rojo. No lo olvidó, y persiguió su imagen desde
entonces, poseído por una incontrolable obsesión: verlo de nuevo, capturarlo a
través de la lente de su cámara. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Todo el desierto estaba contenido en esa imagen, su corazón de viejo
fotógrafo lo había sentido con furia y sin duda alguna en el mismo instante en
que su ojo se posó sobre él.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Hay imágenes cuya magia brota sin principio ni fin, sin tiempo ni
espacio, sin dueño ni propósito; imágenes que son libres, propias, irrepetibles.
Esa había sido una de ellas, y su recuerdo le quitaba el sueño, lo devolvía sin
remedio al mismo paraje en busca del mismo maguey y de la misma luz
inaprensible. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Había dado con esa imagen por casualidad, cuando de regreso por una vieja
carretera había parado instintivamente su coche para admirar el paisaje a su
alrededor. No llevaba la cámara, ¡él, que vivía, como viejo pirata, con el ojo
pegado a una lente fotográfica!<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Nunca se lo perdonó, ese era su particular y secreto dolor de artista, el
recuerdo que confesaba tímidamente a su cámara en medio del silencio que habita
en el desierto.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Cada fin de semana lo mismo: tomar el coche y dirigirse al paisaje de sus
desvelos. Esperar pacientemente una, dos, tres horas... hasta que el atardecer
le regalara un nuevo milagro. Un pirata en busca del tesoro, surcando el mar de
tierra dorada en el que se escondía ella, la imagen de su
vida.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Siguiendo su rastro, había retratado hasta el más recóndito de los
detalles de su escenario, como buscando encontrarla un día de esos en que su
lente, cansada de esperar, se olvidara del color de las hojas anheladas o las
tonalidades del cielo que las cubría como amante en
calma.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>Dicen que murió sin dar con ella una vez más. Dicen que en su lugar, el
fotógrafo tapizó un museo entero con sus
sustitutos.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>

size=3>Eso es, al menos, lo que me ha contado su cámara en la soledad de una
noche estrellada en el desierto, mientras yo he suspirado también por un maguey

Admiró la perfección de sus caderas y acarició con la mirada la piel libre de
vellos. Se dijo que se amaba. El puño se estrelló contra los labios que sonreían
con amargura. Observó sus mejillas fracturadas.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>

otros. Uno a uno cayeron al piso como haces de luz sobre la enrojecida
superficie. Cerró los ojos y pensó en otr@s que, como él, caerían en la trampa.
El inventor de aquella maravilla biotecnológica tuvo que haber vislumbrado,
también, la destrucción de los espejos.</FONT></SPAN></P>
