los últimos 3 chiles rellenos, la tostada de pollo, el arroz y la barra de
chocolate de la cual aún tenía el sabor en la boca. Quería vomitar todo lo
sucedido durante las últimas 2 semanas. Quería vomitar los últimos 15 días,
borrarlos de su memoria, eliminarlos, simplemente despertar y encontrar el
salto en el calendario. La náusea era una bola que viajaba desde la boca de su
estómago hasta su campanilla y retrocedía para volver a comenzar su
recorrido.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT
size=3>—Depresiones no. No, no, no, no, todo menos eso —le había dicho su
madrastra ofreciéndole una rebanada de pastel de 3 leches el día que llegó
arrastrando todo el llanto y las secreciones nasales correspondientes a una
espontánea ruptura con Tomás, su ahora ex-novio, un arquitecto recién graduado
que, supo ella minutos antes de la ruptura, pronto contraería nupcias con una
abogada de futuro prometedor.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT size=3>Y desde
ese día se había refugiado en toda clase de aperitivos, dulces, postres,
platos fuertes o lo que encontrara en la despensa, el refrigerador, la mesa o
la cafetería de la preparatoria.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT size=3>El
remedio había resultado peor que la enfermedad. Con el amor propio en el
suelo, las mejillas desbordadas y una vergonzosa derrota frente a la báscula,
Rita se acostó eructando una extraña sensación de chocolate y caldillo de
tomate. Durmió una larga siesta. <o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT size=3>Al
despertar se pintaría el cabello (sólo Tomás había notado aquella vez que se
había pintado el cabello de negro: ¡te pintaste el cabello! Que bien se te ve,
pero tu boca, no hay boca comparable con tu boca, nada, nada en el mundo como
tu boca), los ojos y las uñas de negro, y se vestiría del mismo color para
verse un tanto mística, un tanto mayor, y para disimular uno o dos kilitos.
Buscaría a Tomás para mentirle, decirle que en realidad había sido un
pasatiempo, un lindo juguete para presumir, que lo había utilizado para crear
personajes, plasmar sensaciones, que qué quería, que así era la vida. Él, por
pura lástima, se daría la vuelta y se iría en silencio; o no resistiría las
ganas de contradecirla, mucho menos en público, recordándole que era ella la
que se había enamorado, que había sido tan tonta que no había podido ocultarlo
(ni siquiera se molestaría en decir que le agradaba que las mujeres no
trataran de ocultar lo que sienten). Ni tendría la cortesía de agregar que se
le salía de las manos, que así era la vida.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN lang=ES
style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Courier New'; mso-ansi-language: ES"><FONT size=3>Tomás
era el futuro heredero de "La Giralda", un bar ubicado en un exclusivo sitio
de la ciudad. Ahí lo encontraría Rita, saludando a clientes distinguidos,
coordinando a los meseros y vigilando cada pequeño detalle; siempre preocupado
en el cliente y en formar una atmósfera agradable que invitara a regresar.
Nunca había llevado ahí a Rita, pues no descuidaría su trabajo por atenderla.
Pero ella llegó esa noche sin invitación y sin credencial de
elector.<o:p></o:p></FONT></SPAN></P>
