HI KIM and NAPPC

Here is the announcement for the 2006 IPM Symposium. I asked Elaine Wolf to
save a space for NAPPC. This will give us great exposure to pest managers
and it would be a good idea to have copies of research papers as well as
posters  as we did at the display table at the National Zoo last month.

 Would you please confirm with Elaine ASAP?   I will be there with an IPM
display from National Park Service as well. See you then!

Join more than 700 IPM professionals from around the world for the Fifth
National IPM Symposium! “IPM: Delivering on a Promise” will be held on
April 4-6, 2006 at the Adams Mark Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.  Sessions
will address state of the art technologies and innovative strategies to
solve pest problems in agricultural, recreational, natural, and community
settings successfully and in a way that makes sense.

ON-LINE SUBMISSION OF POSTER ABSTRACTS IS NOW OPEN!
Use this opportunity to share your IPM work.  Communication is the keystone
of IPM implementation.  Several specially designated times will be
allocated for poster viewing and discussion with the presenters.  After the
symposium, posters will be posted on the 5th National IPM Symposium website
by topic, along with abstracts.  Space is limited.  Abstracts must be
submitted electronically by December 16, 2005.  The Abstract Submission
Form is on the symposium web site at:

A complete list of sessions will be added soon to the website.

CURRENT SCHEDULE
An optional opening reception at the St. Louis Zoo has been arranged for
Monday, April 3rd, with transportation via bus from the hotel. There will
be two departures to accommodate attendees at pre-symposium meetings and
late afternoon arrivals. The 2:00 PM departure includes options for small
group, behind-the-scenes tours of several exhibits. The later departure
(around 5:00 PM) will arrive in time for presentations by Monsanto
Insectarium staff on their endangered species conservation program and by
Orkin on IPM at the zoo. A BBQ dinner and cash bar will follow, with return
to the hotel by 9:00 PM. There will be a separate registration fee for this
activity.

The Symposium plenary session begins at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, April 4. After
a networking lunch, concurrent sessions with presentations by invited
speakers will be held in the afternoon, followed by a poster session and
reception. Concurrent sessions will fill the day on Wednesday, followed by
another poster session and reception. The symposium will end at noon on
Thursday, April 6.

REGISTRATION
On-line registration will begin soon.  The early discounted registration
fee will be $175.00 per person.  The optional activities at the St. Louis
Zoo will have an additional cost.
