TO: NAPPC Participants and Pollinator Supporters

RE: Request for Sponsorship of October 18-20, 2006 Pollinator
Events-RSVP with your Pledge ASAP. Sponsors pledging by October 2 will be
included in the program materials and signage.

To those of you in a position to do so, please consider signing on as a
Sponsor of the 2006 Pollinator Symposium, Reception and Workshop.

You can do so by filling out the attached form and faxing same to CoE-NAPPC.
An invoice will be sent to facilitate payment.

If you are aware of other potential financial supporters, your collaborative
assistance in commending this appeal to their attention would be greatly
appreciated!

Sponsors will be recognized on invitations and program materials and signage
at the events. A copy of last year's reception program is attached to
illustrate the broad range of congressional and stakeholder support for our
pollinator activities.

The registration fee being paid by participants this year is designed to
help offset a portion of direct expenses associated with the event,
including meals and refreshments. However, a pressing need continues in
terms of generating financial support to underwrite the ongoing expenses
associated with the staff and overhead needed to manage the NAPPC
collaboration, meetings and initiatives effectively. The reality is that it
takes a core team of dedicated professionals and funding to maintain and
build on the momentum created at the periodic meetings as we all go back to
our 'regular' jobs. Every Dollar contributed is highly leveraged in the
form of actions and successes in advancing the NAPPC mission that you each
share.

While I urge you to be generous, ANY LEVEL OF SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED. I am
pleased to report that the American Farm Bureau Federation, the National
Corn Growers Association and the National Association of Conservation
Districts are among the supporters who have already contributed or pledged
sponsorships for this year's events. Other organizations, including Blue
Diamond and the Society of American Florists have pledged welcome in-kind
contributions.

A few highlighted updates re October 18-20 to whet your pollinator appetite:

*	Agriculture Secretary Johanns has committed to speak at the opening
of the Symposium.
*	A request to the Secretary to sign a proclamation at the Symposium
designating June 24-30, 2007 as National Pollinator Week is under
consideration.
*	The artwork of U.S. Postal Service pollinator commemorative stamp
series will be publicly unveiled at the October 18 Symposium for the first
time.

*	NAPPC has been designated by USPS as the lead partner in rolling out
introduction of the pollinator commemorative stamp series. The Workshop
will provide an opportunity to develop the action plan for 2007 to take
maximum advantage of this unique education and outreach opportunity.

*	The NAS Pollinator Report will be highlighted at the Symposium.
*	The 2006 Pollinator Advocate Awards will be announced at the October
18 reception at the U.S. Botanic Garden. The first winner of the NAPPC-NACD
Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Conservation Award will also be recognized.
*	With Farm Bill reauthorization scheduled for 2007, the Workshop
presents an opportunity to develop an action plan on how to 'pollinate'
conservation programs and the authorizing statute for the benefit of
pollinators.
*	NAPPC participants will be working on action plans to realize the
potential of existing MOU's with key agencies and to complete additional
MOU's.
*	And SO MUCH MORE, for the benefit of pollinators!

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Don't hesitate to contact me or CoE-NAPPC staff with questions or
suggestions.
