Subject: FYI---- NBC - Today Show Weds 16th of May

NBC -Today Show 16 May 2007

As part of a week-long series called "Today Goes Wild", the Today
show will have a 6 min segment on monarch butterflies. Most of the
filming was done in Mexico, near Cerro Pelon and Sierra Chincua, two
of the major monarch overwintering sites, and some of the shots
should show monarchs streaming down the mountains in preparation for
their return flight northward at the beginning of March. A number of
scientists who study monarchs , including myself, were interviewed
for the segment. The Monarch Watch tagging program will be mentioned
in the piece. A short clip from Lincoln Brower's flyover of the
monarch reserve showing the extent of deforestation in the Monarch
Biosphere Reserve will be included.

An additional live element will involve planting a butterfly garden.
For this segment they required plants already in bloom so it will be
interesting to see if they were able to find any of the butterfly
plants I suggested.
