POSITION  ANNOUNCEMENT 
POSTDOCTORAL  FELLOW/RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

May  1, 2009 – April 30, 2011 
The  Department of Food, Agricultural & Resource Economics (FARE) has a 
temporary  two year assignment (with possible extension) for a postdoctoral 
fellow/research  associate. The focus of the research is to conduct economic analyses 
as part of  an inter-disciplinary team within the strategic research network 
NSERC-CANPOLIN  (Canadian Pollination Initiative).  Specific research themes 
include: (a)  characterizing the markets for pollination services; (b) 
assessing the  cost-effectiveness of integrated pest management services; and (c) 
evaluating  the market effects of changes in abundance and diversity of pollinator 
species.  The candidate is expected to contribute to the development of an 
internationally  recognized research program focused on economic analysis of 
pollinators, both in  Canada  and worldwide. Responsibilities will also include 
extensive coordination with  other network researchers to help guide data 
collection and ensure that  economics are integrated into the multidimensional 
objectives of the network.   
Requirements  of the position include:  A PhD in a relevant area with proven 
research  experience in the related area, proven publication record, working 
knowledge of  the use of statistical programs for data analysis, excellent 
communication and  interpersonal skills to promote good working relationships with 
co-workers,  excellent organization and self-motivational skills.  The 
ability to teach  courses within the Dept of FARE is an asset.
