We're all looking for meaning in our lives. And though _Facebook-stalking_
(http://www.asylum.com/2010/07/26/10-reasons-to-stay-facebook-friends-with-e
x-girlfriend/) the girl from the compliance department is fun, it doesn't
serve the greater good. So, to fill that void, behold: _bee-watching_
(http://greatpollinatorproject.org/watcher_home.html) .

Bees are like the _adult section of Craigslist_
(http://www.asylum.com/2010/03/03/creepy-craigslist-sex-ritual-party-upper-east-side/) -- a couple
bad experiences and you're totally turned off. But the people of the _Great
Pollinator Project_ (http://greatpollinatorproject.org/) in New York City
have no hard feelings towards the malicious insects, with their aggravating
humming and overachieving flight patterns.

The GPP, as the regs call it, has started a movement to help New Yorkers
understand the importance of these pollinating insects. The project is
holding bee-watching field trips for all the wannabe etymologists in the area,
or those who just really loved Seinfeld's "Bee Movie."

"We were quite pleased with the turnout," GPP organizer Elizabeth Johnson
tells Asylum. "It gave folks an opportunity to learn more about different
bee species and how to identify them, and it also was a great way for fellow
bee-watchers to get to meet each other."

If you can't make these excursions, the GPP urges people to bee watch on
their own, with their website offering a comprehensive "_how to_
(http://greatpollinatorproject.org/instructions.html) ." Solitary bee-watching might
not sound like a lot of fun on the surface, but throw a couple Quaaludes in
there, and you've got a good time!
