The USDA Farm Service Agency announced that Pollinator Habitats, which
support a diversity of pollinator species, will now be accepted as a
Continuous Sign-up Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) practice, a voluntary program
that helps producers safeguard environmentally sensitive land.
In addition to the acceptance of pollinator habitats under Continuous CRP,
landowners of select newly enrolled practices will receive CRP Sign-up
Incentive Payments (SIP) of $150 per acre. The SIP is a one-time payment made
to landowners after the contract is approved. Practices qualifying for the
SIP increase include: Pollinator Habitats and Wetland Restoration and
Wetland Restoration (non-floodplain) practice which restores the functions and
values of wetland ecosystems that have been devoted to agricultural use.
The SIP for all other continuous sign-up practices will remain at $100 per
acre.
Continuous CRP sign-up allows landowners to enroll in CRP at anytime
instead of waiting for a General CRP sign-up period. To be accepted in the
program, landowners must meet certain eligibility requirements.
Landowners interested in Continuous CRP need to contact their local county
FSA office for further information and program requirements.
