The first week in May we're always in southern West Virginia, banding birds and lecturing for the New River Birding & Nature Festival. In 2012 we actually got to go on a field trip that resulted in our lifer Cerulean Warbler AND provided ample opportunity to shoot lots of nature images. Thus, our "This Week at Hilton Pond" installment for 1-10 May 2012 is a photo essay of spring wildflowers found along a trail in the hardwood forests of the Mountain State. To view, please visit http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek120501.html . We include lots of info about the flowers' pollinators.

While there don't forget to scroll down for our usual list of birds banded or recaptured back at Hilton Pond during the period. This week we also pay homage to a fallen friend and include one of our occasional "Nature Moments with McKinley."

Happy Nature Watching!

BILL
