Asya,
The following is Dr. Geoff Cox's (HPLC expert) answer to your question:

Hi,

Given the size of pollen particles, ie greater than 6 microns, why not
filter the ethanol through a 0.5 micron membrane filter? These are
available in Teflon or several other polymers. Take a look at:

http://www.emdmillipore.com/US/en/life-science-research/chromatography-sample-preparation/filtration-products/microfiltration-membranes/FqCb.qB.7ZkAAAFBDQZlvzJE,nav?cid=BI-XX-BSP-P-GOOG-ASP0-B343-1016

There are several suppliers of such things; one of them should sell
something that will work. Asya should search on Google for 0.45 micron
filters. The critical thing is to be able to remove the pollen from the
filter afterwards, but that may depend on what they want to do with them
after.

Geoff.

  I hope this is helpful.
Hilary Cox
