This employee from Nature Hills Nursery said that the nursery is required by law to treat their plants before they leave the nursery. Does anyone know what law she’s referring to? It’s time to rewrite the law.

Barbara,

Thank you for reaching out to us today. I'm afraid since we ship to the continental USA we are required by law to treat our plants before they leave the nursery. Residual effects of the chemical applications we use are minimal as they break down very quickly after exposure to the sun and water. If we were a small, local grower we could be organic and Neonicotinoid free. However, bear in mind that there are many other users of Neonicotinoids like farmers that use far more product than the horticulture industry, which is simply out of our control and we use the bare minimum.

Thank you,
Charlotte

How may we help you?: Do you have any native (not cultivars or nativars) bushes or shrubs for sale that haven't been treated with pesticides or other toxic substances. www.meadowmaking.org
