Conservation Coalition,



AFT is expanding its national *Farmers Combat Climate Change* *Initiative*
(Climate Initiative), which aims to catalyze widespread adoption of
regenerative farming and ranching practices that rebuild soil health,
sequester carbon, minimize GHG emissions, and promote agricultural
resiliency to climate change.  We aim to bring on three team members who
will advance AFT’s policy advocacy, integrated research, and outreach
efforts.

*Climate Policy Manager*



Reporting to the Policy Director, the Climate Policy Manager will develop
AFT’s climate policy agenda, including policy positions relating to
improving and strengthening federal conservation programs (e.g., EQIP, CSP,
RCPP) as well as other policies to help agriculture mitigate and adapt to
climate change.


To be considered for this role, you must be passionate about expanding
regenerative practices using innovative, science-based mechanisms deployed
through the public and private sectors, and:



   - Knowledge of the congressional and agency policy-making process.
   - Strong desire to advance regenerative agricultural systems by
   developing supportive policy that is grounded in research findings.
   - Experience in developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders, such
   as farmers and ranchers, non-profits, the scientific community,
   corporations, and government agencies.
   - Skill in translating complex policy and conservation information to
   diverse audiences in writing as well as through meetings and presentations.
   - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as public
   policy, political science, agriculture, or environmental science.
   - 5+ years of experience in, and demonstrated knowledge of, policy
   related to climate change and/or conservation in agricultural or natural
   lands.



*Climate Initiative Director*



Reporting to the Research Initiative Managing Director, the Climate
Initiative Director leads AFT’s national Climate Initiative, including
directing strategy and leading activities including research, outreach,
policy advocacy, communications, and related efforts.



To be considered for this role, you must be passionate about expanding
regenerative practices using innovative, science-based mechanisms deployed
through the public and private sectors, and:



   - Experience directing a major program or set of projects, including
   management of people, contracts, and budgets.
   - Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing
   diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of colleagues, staff, and contractors
   with flexibility and creativity.
   - Supervisory experience, including setting goals and managing
   performance of employees.
   - EITHER: PhD in agronomy, soil science, environmental science, natural
   resources, environmental policy, or related field, and at least 8 years of
   related work experience, with at least 3 of them being at a senior level or
   in a leadership role, OR: MS in these fields and at least 10 years of
   related work experience, with at least 5 of them being at a senior level or
   in a leadership role.



*Climate Change Scientist*



Reporting to the Climate Initiative Director, the Climate Change and Soil
Health Scientist supports AFT’s national Climate Initiative, by performing
research, outreach, policy advocacy, communications, and related efforts,
and synthesizing and translating technical data and information on
agriculture, soil health, and climate change topics into actionable
reports, training materials, publications, and presentations to various
audiences.



To be considered for this role, you must be passionate about expanding
regenerative practices using innovative, science-based mechanisms deployed
through the public and private sectors, and:



   - Experience directing a major program or set of projects, including
   management of people, contracts, and budgets.
   - Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing
   diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of colleagues, staff, and contractors
   with flexibility and creativity.
   - Supervisory experience, including setting goals and managing
   performance of employees.
   - MS or PhD degree in agronomy, soil science, environmental science,
   natural resources, environmental policy, or related field.
   - 2-4 years of work experience in a related field preferred.
