name is Eddie Atkinson. I currently am an entomology graduate student under Dr.
Jamie Ellis at the University of Florida. I will be receiving my PhD this
December (2010), and am looking for post-doctoral work for
2011.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">My
dissertation research investigates the development of integration into honey bee
colonies by small hive beetles. Through this work I have performed in-depth
analyses on the morphology of nitidulid beetles, the behavior of honey bees and
nitidulid beetles, and chemical use in honey bees and small hive beetles, using
various techniques including cuticular pentane washes, Super Q filters, and gas
chromatography-mass spectrometry. Through the research of others in the lab I
have gained experience in pollination studies (by bees in general), sub-lethal
pesticide effects, integrated pest management, and general beekeeping issues.
However, my research interests are many, and I would be very pleased to continue
pollinator research. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
