friend Nibby’s home and farm infrastructure recently burned down in the
CZU Lightning Complex fire. Nibby and her family have a small organic
farm, Two Dog Farm, where they grow dry-farm tomatoes and other veggies.
Despite the devastation to their property, their crops managed to
survive, and they are continuing to try to harvest and sell at farmers’
markets. Nibby played with the session for many years until she got arthritis recently.<br></div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">For many
summers now (except this last summer), Lucas, Cora, and I have been
invited to visit their beautiful home and property in the mountains
above Davenport. We have many wonderful memories of our time there.

Next Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th, we'll launch a series of short instructional videos for people who play (or listen to) Celtic music. The videos will cover a range of topics and instruments; here's the current line-up:</p>

<li>Saturday 10am: Polyrhythmic Fun for Jigs (harp)</li>
<li>Saturday 11am: Pattern Power (whistle)</li>
<li>Saturday 1pm: Introduction to Celtic Rhythms (all)</li>
<li>Saturday 2pm: Intro to DADGAD for Irish Tunes (guitar)</li>
<li>Saturday 3pm: Strathspey Bowing Technique (fiddle)</li>
<li>Sunday 9am: Left-hand Syncopation for Slip Jigs (harp)</li>
<li>Sunday 10am: Putting a Lilt into Irish Jigs, Part 2 (fiddle)</li>
<li>Sunday 11am: Grace Note Bootcamp (practice chanter, whistle)</li>
<li>Sunday 1pm: Syncopation Super-charge (bodhran)</li>
</ul>
The videos will be created by our fabulous camp faculty: Jesse Autumn, David Brewer, Adam Hendey, Rebecca Lomnickey, Stuart Mason, and John Weed. They will be free to watch – and will stay up on the website until early summer – but we do encourage those who utilize the videos to make a donation.<br>
