Hello, Subscriber Friends,
I’m so sorry to have sent the wrong address to subscribe and unsubscribe! It turns out, that email address is case-sensitive and— oh dear — it won’t work unless all in lower case.! So the correct address is —
				dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net <mailto:dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net>
Thank you to the helpful folks who alerted me to this problem! Below I’ve changed the original email to elaborate correctly on how to sub. or unsubscribe.
I’m sorry to have to send you this additional email, when it’s not yet my actual guide! But this email is not just a correction; I get to tell you about this — SPECIAL Opportunity Today (Oct. 7)!

Many of you want to get more info about the candidates. (My guide never endorses candidates.) But today (and by recording — if you register) there’s this opportunity to learn more about the candidates for Superintendent of Public Instruction:
Live debate TODAY: Candidates for California's top elected education official face off as the role changes

This is a virtual debate, sponsored by EdSource <https://edsource.org/about> (“California’s largest journalism organization focused on education”). It's between the two Superintendent of Public Instruction candidates, one hour long, at 7 pm.
Register to attend and / or to receive the recording — at
https://edsource.org/2026/california-education-funding-rise/757381 .
This is a critical public office, and you can become a resource for your friends. Spread the word and / or insights you gain.
						Thanks for your caring! Darien

[Prior B. Guide email message — corrected with subscribing info elaborated]
By now all registered California voters should have received the Official Voter Information Guide. And your ballots are in the mail to you, if not yet in your mailbox. This election is an important and seriously contested one, with looming questions about challenges to casting our ballots.
So we all want to vote early(ish) this year — and I’m one who usually advises waiting for late-breaking election info.
With 14 state props. on the ballot, I anticipate you’ll be interested in this year’s Ballot Guide, and I plan to send it out on October 12 — earlier than in the past!

Subscribe and Unsubscribe
That means there’s time to tell all your friends about the helpfulness of my guide, so they can subscribe. To do so, from your correct email, email the word subscribe — in the body or subject line — to dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net <mailto:dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net> .
Or you can unsubscribe, by sending (from whatever address you want to unsubscribe from) the word unsubscribe — in the body or subject line — to dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net <mailto:dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net> . (That’s also what you should do, if your email address is changing From your old (currently subscribed) email address, email the word unsubscribe — body or subject line — to that same listserve address: dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net <mailto:dariens_ballot_guide-requests at lists.sonic.net> . Then subscribe from your new address.)
Of course, you can also choose to unsubscribe for other reasons, and that’s better than you getting a lot of unwanted emails (or me getting a lot of bounces). I won’t be offended; I won’t even know!

Resources!
While waiting for the Ballot Guide, you can read up on electoral races — or even the props.

+ For helpful information on candidates for nearly every office and every district, both state and local, with a progressive slant; I recommend Courage California’s Progressive Voters Guide <https://progressivevotersguide.com/california>. They also cover the props!
+ With just a little nosing around — you can find very good articles about different CA props. on the Cal Matters website <https://calmatters.org/>.
+ Find all kinds of very helpful voting info — races to registration — at Ballotpedia <https://ballotpedia.org/>.
+ Of course, you can also get diverse info at the official Secretary of State website <http://www.sos.ca.gov/>. My favorite page on that site is about campaign spending <http://www.sos.ca.gov/campaign-lobbying/cal-access-resources/measure-contributions/>. See who is making the big ballot measure contributions. (But you may get no further there than the name of a PAC. That’s your chance to bring forth your inner investigative reporter by digging into the web for more info. More fun than scrolling!)

Answers!
Well, my answers — and only on the propositions — are coming to you on October 12!
	For now, here’s a teaser:
With five – alive: Yes on 1 through 5!
						Yours, Darien
