Dear Subscribers,
I expect that this is my final email to you for 2026. If you haven’t already read through my guide, I recommend that you read this version, the “corrected” one. Now that I’ve had more time, I've gone through the text again to correct typos and make small edits.
Thank you to the two people who called my attention to specific and more substantive typos. (A very few errors were significant — such as the same org. being listed as both supporting and opposing a prop.! — but they were easily “seen through”.)

None of my recommendations have changed; some of the language is a bit clearer.

The Short Version of a Long Ballot (My “Bare” Recommendations)
• Prop. 1 – Bond Bucks for Diverse Housing – Yes
• Prop. 2 – Reserving More State Funds for Bad Years – Yes
• Prop. 3 – Funds Ed. and Health Care by Extending the Existing Tax on High Incomes – Yes
• Prop. 4 – Allows Public Financing of Election Campaign – Yes
• Prop. 5 – A Chance to Improve the Recall System – Yes
• Prop. 37 – Bond for Loans to Build New Middle-Income Homes – No
• Prop. 38 – Deceptive Bond for Immunology Research – No
• Prop. 39 – Unnecessary & Obstructive ID Requirements for Voting – No
• Prop. 40 – Why There’s So Much You Need to Know About the Wealth Tax – Yes
• Prop. 41 – To Make the 1979 Gann Limit Live on and on – No
• Prop. 42 – No Wealth Taxes and No Retroactive Ones (so no Prop. 40) – No
• Prop. 43 – A Tough Two-Thirds Vote Requirement on Local Tax Measures – No
• Prop. 44 – Do Most of Us Know Enough About Health Clinics to Vote Wisely? – No
• Prop. 45 – Reduces Environmental Review Protections – No

Struggling to remember all this? I have some easy helps (including a new one). See the last page — the end — of the Guide.

(Yes — you can feel free to share the attached Guide to the California Ballot Propositions — and to invite your friends to subscribe (for 2028). But please, they should do it now, while they’re thinking of it. Two years from now will likely be too late: I’m now trying to email it out about three weeks before election day.
Remember, subscribers receive the Guide only once (or, as in the case of this correction, rev. 1, just twice) — only at the time I email out to the list. (No, I don’t have a website with the Guide.)

How to Subscribe or Unsubscribe to Darien's Guide to the California Ballot Propositions
To subscribe, email the word subscribe — in the body or subject line of the message — to Dariens_Ballot_Guide-request at lists.sonic.net <mailto:Dariens_Ballot_Guide-request at lists.sonic.net>. Or, to unsubscribe, email from the account / address that you’re unsubscribing, the word unsubscribe.
I won’t use subscriber email address for anything else, and one can always unsubscribe.
Yours till next elections — happy Hallowe’en! Darien
