Yeah, Sampsa help me setup my simh based Vax as well. Been running
extremely well on my Pi.. Yes it's slow, but for my needs it works well for
learning OpenVMS. Plus it's clustered to his machines as well.

The RPi also is my airplay destination so I can output itunes to my Nortel
phone system for music on hold, and it has the Appletalk software on it for
net booting my old Apples. It's also running IncrediblePBX for voip and
GoogleVoice integration via tcpip to the phone switch too.

For 256megs of ram it sure can do a ton of things all at once.

I ordered mine ages ago, from like Amazon, delivered in a week.

It's been running SIMH as HPIVAX ever since..

Yeah, an Arduino as the USB to T.ls would make this pretty trivial as
a
"general" solution.

I'm a year or two behind in Arduini -- do you mean there are versions
that
realistically let you use the USB port as more than just serial I/O?
That
would be super sweet!

That said, the RPi should be able to support it without anything other
than
the leds and switches added to the AdaFruit breakout board, I have.

Don't get me started on the RPi! By the time they got around to
shipping
me what was by then an off-rev board I was so pissed I cut it in half
with
a
chainsaw.

I got a later rev board as an apology. Weird.

Hello!
You did? When?

Around last year. They took many months and it kept getting delayed.

That was the doing of the things that are trying to eat the mail that
wanders past Dave's place.

Hello!
Interesting.
Can you give me some pointers towards the meaning behind this
sentence, " It's also running IncrediblePBX for voip and GoogleVoice
integration via tcpip to the phone switch too.". I can parse it
properly, but I'm more interested in the PBX component. Also how
you've got it talking towards Google Voice. (Which I have as it
happens, talking to my regular phone number, but I've not done the
rest of it.)

Earlier this year I was looking towards getting mine to run Asterisk
and then possibly communicating with Google Voice, and adding things
to it for the purposes of an application called originally Pachube,
its now called COSM, https://cosm.com/ the big problem is that of
securing an excellent attachment between the phone and the device, the
big problem was Cisco and tracking down the device I had in mind.
Suffice to say it did not end well.
