I used mine (both of them) to do DECnet over serial lines‎ (DDCMP).
The 2000 was in 1988 the first computer in the house. It ran pretty much 24x7, which, compared to the PC-DOS competition at other homes, was pretty impressive.

I used the 2000 as a kind of router and it did decent job on slow
analog lines :)
