(paring it down)



the poetry lesson





she wrote a poem about three pears

and a tangerine in paris

“it could be pared down”

they suggested

then it came down to

two pears in paris

without the tangerine

“maybe pare it down 

a bit more”

they said

(yes, of course she thought)

and then the poem

came down 

to just

one

pear.
