You're Invited to the Sonoma County Poet Laureate Reception This Afternoon

Dear Poetry Fans,

 We are very excited to celebrate the ninth Sonoma County Poet Laureate. 

 As many of you know the poet laureate process that distinguishes local poets with a countywide emphasis, was born at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts sixteen years ago. We couldn’t be happier with the the resultant path of this tradition and the many laureates that have been honored and have contributed so much to our community. The SCA has been very fortunate to have the talent and enthusiasm the Poets Laureate and a selection committee that spans all county districts to help every two years in finding successors. 

 I hope that you will take the time this Sunday to join us, as we raise a glass of bubbly and nosh on incredible cookies (Iris’ choice) for the biennial gathering of Sonoma County Poets Laureate. This year we will bestow this honor to Iris Jamahl Dunkle- a longtime Sebastopol resident, and champion of all things poetry, (Iris was in fact on the very first poet laureate selection committee sixteen years ago.)
