Oh! Ship of State!! - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Oh! Ship of State!!
Sail on, with tattered sails and leaky hull
While rowdy people and their fears
Are screeching quibbles loudly heard,
And God the Master of their fate
Takes time away to contemplate
What tie to wear or shirt compare…
While pundits rage and stab the air.
We hear the moans of those entranced
With verbal mocking by the Beast
Who swaggers daily on the stage
And permeates the very air.
Rage on, oh snarling, steamy pot
Do not pretend to think or reason
Swing your scythe in gardens fair
Cutting everything in sight…
Until you have what you deserve…
Yet, those of us who stand and stare
May yet be able to repair what mischief wrought.
He stands above with looks disdain
And tells the world with loud acclaim
That we en mass were losers all
Not worthy of so much as He
His Majesty proclaims.

	- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"The person who is in love with their vision of community will destroy community. But the person who loves the people around them will create community everywhere they go.”
