Dear friends,
I will be leading another tour to Bhutan a year from now, in April of 2019. If you have been curious about this fascinating Himalayan nation, this is your chance to travel in a small group to learn how they are negotiating the challenging path from an isolated feudal monarchy to a 21st century democracy in less than one generation. Determined to take a different path from their neighboring countries, Bhutan has adopted a revolutionary development paradigm called Gross National Happiness. Rather than simply pursuing economic development, they are committed to preserving their traditional culture, protecting the environment and assuring social equity.
This 12 day tour will be limited to 15 participants and we will travel as a transformative learning community, meeting with political and religious leaders, visiting sacred sites and handicraft workshops and attending one of the most important religious festivals of the year. We are timing it to be able to witness the astonishing beauty of the Himalayan foothills ablaze with the native rhododendrons.
The trip is sponsored by the Center for Climate Protection and the trip fee includes a carbon offset for the environmental impact of travel. In addition to the tour, we are also offering an optional 6 day trek through Bhutan’s high country, some of the most spectacular landscape in the world. I am attaching below a brochure with more information. If you are interested but have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me. If you know someone else who might be interested, please pass this along.
Thank you so much,
Larry
