Petaluma Moment
 
Unhurried the heron walks, long skinny legs
      across the Petaluma mud
Stands beside the slow-moving river
His long pointy beak preens long blue feathers
Then stares long long long at the rippling water
 
Long has the heron known
A fish will come 
The water will flow
The moon will rise
And he will fly and die and fly again 
Long has the heron known
