Weasels to Wonder
I think we all know that human communication
can be as hazy as a swarm of sloths floating on air, and
even though I speak something clear as Arizona sky
you hear Greek translated into German and
retranslated into Urdu and spoken
after a hit of Jamaican weed.
This is where some simple Science can help.
Brains are made of molecules, themselves made of atoms,
mostly of Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Carbon
which are powered by electrons.
Hydrogen electrons spin round their nuclei at 1364 mph,
which is pretty damn fast. Brains message our middle fingers
up to 275 mph. Our devices can send voice or text at
light speed, which is about 186,000 Scotties per second.
The simplest example is talking to another person 6 feet away or more.
Sound travels at 761 mph at sea level, pretty good there.
Problems come the last six cerebral inches when
our truths travel through ears to others’ ids for
reconstruction and mucking up. This processing takes
about 1 - 4 hours depending pretty much on entire life stories.
This is why things go wrong.
But back to that Arizona sky, which is what I have been
under while tranced by the Grand Canyon, first time
I’ve seen it, biggest scar on the earth, and most
of my electrons have taken the day off
and I have no idea how I can ever
tell you how my life has changed
from weasels to wonder in
the last tick of the tock
so stay still with me
please, please.
Wow.
