Notice Me
I know you´re out of time
but could you at least dream of me?
You walk past me in the street
but barely notice me.
I know you
but you hardly know me
except when you have to walk around me,
then you see me for a split second
but before we both know
you´ve ducked into your next moment.
I need you
but you don´t need me, at all.
I have all hopes pinned on you
but I seem totally hopeless to you.
You call me beggar, outcast, homeless.
You know, homelessness doesn´t hurt as much
as my invisible loneliness.
When we think about it,
we are all beggars for hugs
outcasts of intimacy
homeless in barren hearts.
Only your poverty is better disguised than mine.
These old rags dress my body
as your emotional shreds wrap your soul.
Oh, I´d rather be hated than ignored!
At this point,
I would be better healed by a hug than by a dime.
So, I know you´re out of time right now,
but could you at least dream of me tonight,
and notice me there?
