Old Friends
We will meet together
and we will be thirsty
and drink from that deep well
of ThingsAsTheyAre.
We will keep our brains
in the front of our minds,
talking to them like old friends,
like we did with our dogs.
We’ll walk down memory’s lanes,
take slow tours into old alleys,
kind bedrooms, fleeting lovers;
visit long-gone hopes and almosts.
What did I promise and to whom?
What didn’t I say?
And, why not?
Where are our old dreams buried?
We should have a wake, bring roses.
C’mon! Let’s go to the park
eat chocolate, share champagne,
listen to silence, the whistle-wind.
tell stories Yes, let’s just do it.
And, while I’m at it, do you have my hat?
