Fall Flowers

The flowers awaken now
at the turn of the season.
This time, fall.

Cut back 
from the dry, hot summer,
the dead leaves are gone
and new growth appears.

The flowers, delicate,
mostly white,
some purple with yellow centers,
others with transparent petals,
all wait our gaze,
as if that was their purpose,
and not just their own cycle.
