A Journey Lighted by the Aurora Polaris

15 Chinese Elephants are on a long march north
                           and no one knows why
				New York Times, June 2021

	forget the fallen
	embrace the risen
	the unexpected vision
	exposes the hidden

beyond village and farmland
fifteen great lumbering endlings
move in heavy unrelenting folds
through the wrinkled gray

a fallen industrial world tatters ties
an unwarranted lacuna
stalls the engine of the ordinary--
distance is now the imperative

singularity names them all
provides remembered diasporas
a heightened sense of new well being
a buffer of shared belonging

admit the hidden path to Polaris
guidance transmitted silently
by delicate vibrations whispered
into the elephant ear

A Les and Fran Braided Poem

(Les Bernstein and Fran Claggett-Holland)

Sent from the imaginal realm.
