Falling
What it takes to fall is a lifetime of falls and failures
Letting down others and myself
Failing to get it right over and over
Tripping along as the body
Does its best but fails as leaves leaf out
Only to collapse later on. We know the fall
Is coming. Breath rises and falls through our body
Rising and falling as the sea
As the seasons
We float and feel our ephemeral wings
Lift us then let us go
Like paper airplanes
Gliding across the meadow.
Brief is the flight
Of our light
The joy of the moment
That is us,
As we lean back into the blue sky
Of this summer’s day
And let go.
