Did You Get My Email?


My love asks me —

Oh, I say
was that the email 
you sent saying you 
found my note on 
your nightstand this morning
and that you were pleased 
I made morning-glory-oatmeal  
for breakfast (your favorite)
with coconut flakes,
carrots, currants, cardamon
cinnamon, and orange zest? 
That you noticed 
the tiny bouquet 
of johnny-jump-ups
by your bowl 
and that it was high noon 
we went out to dinner
which we did and you said we 
should do that more often, 
and wasn't it a sweet walk home 
under a half moon? 
That you were pleased
to see I wore the earrings 
you gave me for my 50th birthday
the circled beaded ones
sewn on a patch of leather
hard to find in these parts
and that you thought 
I looked lovely
not a day over 40?
Did you mean that email?  

No, I didn't get it.
