This morning 
Is how the pines
Kiss the blue of the sky,

How they stand still as a 
Dance partner 
While fresh clouds 
Swirl into position,

And a single woodpecker 
Taps a beat for the next
Section and flies off,
Making room for the quail’s call

To sing hallelujah, 
Let the dance begin at last,
For this season’s first 
Rain.
