Getting Clear
“Clarity is overrated,” I tell her
after she says, “I can’t begin until I’m clear.”
It’s in the confusion, the chaos
That something new can be born
like a star or starfish, some struggle
needs happen for the self to step aside
let life, new or rediscovered, speak.
Lately I’ve waited, impatiently, for
Grace to give me words.
My impatience grips boredom to
her core, and she bores into
The mind like an insidious parasite,
A virus that begs for distraction
Which begs for more. Emptiness awaits, waits for our noticing.
Like the selva of El Peten,
The fjord below us creates
Its own atmosphere. Clouds,
rain-creators rise up to obscure,
Hide from view what is
Known and familiar. What is
There if we do not fill in
The hidden with what we
Are certain exists? What
New life exists beyond what we know?
Like the
Rain forest, fjord we, too, need
Fog, mist so we can rest, exhale make rain to cleanse
and create new life.
