Walking Out of Office Depot
With my manila envelopes
into spring sun
hills green, sky blue
fields of mustard
the ground wet
the flooding, falling trees,
mud slides and sink holes over
the endemic begun
I almost wept for the normalcy
gray pouring stay-at-home-afraid
the don’t go outside-the-air’s-not-fit-to-breathe
the don’t-drive-anywhere-you-might-slowdown-
a-convoy-of-fire trucks OVER
I am over being afraid
the half-empty parking lot welcomes me
the young women who helped me blessed me
Spring, bring courage to cooperate
Come to me, courage of acceptance
come to me, courage to compromise
courage to be kind, find me
Let the new dis-ease be love
given trembling
taken hungrily
passed ‘round like the wedding wine at Cana
increasing as it’s shared
while everyone sips and feels
part of the party
