Round View
Images from a poem float up to the top of my mind
shimmer just below the surface
and circulate back around
eddying me with the temptation
of recognition
I want to attach words to the nameless
to pin the wings of my dream down to
the sterile certainty of our technical salvation
so I can share these discoveries
with those who are always asleep
but may still notice the glimmer of a shiny thing
In this New Age of extremes
the wreckage of the long range forecast
lays crumbled
just before the next exit ramp
by the side of the road to nowhere
The weather is playing
four season monty
and we select the wrong season
again and again and again
as we plant our seeds without praying
“Where are your chants?”
the Raven yodels on the wing
“Even dung beetle prays as he rolls the shitball.”
We have forgotten
We have exchanged the sacred
for the calculable
We have disdained the awe and magic
for the replicable scientific experiment
Disposable context is not recyclable
and our perspective
inside the silo
is that everything is round
In this time of extremes
normalcy is toxic
and subversion
is just a prayer away
