Waiting For The White Camellia
Buds are plump,
My anticipation bound by a few
Thin green sheaths.
I know winter churns the cycle,
Necessary for later bloom.
But that’s difficult to feel,
And I try to remember
What it was like
To have been constantly and deeply sad
In every bone for years,
Embraced occasionally and completely
By true friends who saw the buds
Within the January chill.
