It Is Not For Us To Know

It is not for us to know
all the fruits of our actions.

Like two stones thrown into a pond,
with concentric circles intersecting,
our actions move out into the world
with a life of their own.

Yet for some reason,
which I do not understand,
we have limited vision of their effect.

Maybe it’s just another facet of the mystery,
producing a jewel that we will see
when we enter another world.

And with utter fascination, we will see
consequences upon consequences,
ripples cascading into infinity,
opening and filling our hearts to bursting.
