The Other Side Of The Mirror

what have I done
that was worthwhile?
I was not a refugee
hungry and and crowded in a tent nor did I distribute food and water with gentle hands

my heart was boundaried until
I became an advocate for pigs and chickens beaten, eaten
unseen, disregarded
I made my life a daily prayer for you

we can not destroy
the consciousness of a single leaf though drowning in playthings we can lock ourselves away from its beauty and fragrance

this is my song of praise
to the green hills
pollinators, gliding the winds on a great journey and starlit waters

I pray we will see
the other side of the mirror
as part of life’s weaving
my words are insufficient
for a prayer of this magnitude
