Dear Friend

We are basically fine
    And thank you for asking.
Life is good.
Aging is challenging.

We're battling things in our little living space
    falling apart around us 
        and they aren't even as old as we are!
  
But when your toilet seat breaks 
    and your microwave quits 
        and both require specialized shopping to be replaced 
            and are almost impossible to find
               because they are RV units
And then your printer dies 
    and you can't even buy one these days 
        that does not have to be hooked up to Wifi 
            and that prospect sends you scratching your head 
                and cursing modern technology 
    still unable to print 
        until some young person comes along 
            who can help you hook the thing up 
And then the plumbing under the bathroom sink 
    springs a leak 
        and you don't even know about it 
            until the next day
    when the entire carpeted floor   
    and the "basement" storage area underneath 
        are soaking 
            and it's November and foggy 
                and the fans are still running 4 days later 
                    and everything is draped everywhere 
                        to someday dry 
And then a rat jumps into the fan on your heater 
    and the racket of its dying scares you so much
        that both the heater and you 
            are hollering and threatening to explode....
