Night Whispers Like a Bomb
It’s night. I'm worn down,
worn out, exhausted,
murder will do that you know.
They tell me the war is over there,
but I don't know where that is.
There’s a bullet in my mouth
(how did it get there?)
and I’m afraid. If I swallow it
or spit it out, either way,
it might explode. So
I roll my tongue around it,
hold my peace,
that’s what they tell me,
that's what they like to say,
everyone is so smart,
they know so many words,
but it isn't peace.
