In Defense of Awe 
 
in an undiminishable journey
no angels observe
the apple returning to the tree
 
knowledge's overstocked pantry of mind
mitigates the hard questions
performs daily mercies
 
yet a spinning earth hangs in the sky
orbited by numberless possible worlds
leaving our neurons to fashion meaning
 
it will come to pass
change    as all living things must
will call us home   luminous and humbled
