I, Claude Monet

Look through reality
look until reality blurs the
colors of the sun
look until the colors rise
burning with morning
then blaze in the heat of the day
keep looking until the heat dissipates
and you find in your palette the burnished
gold and bold bronzes of the almost sunset
then watch until the sun fades
leaving the castle at Rouen
and the rivers of Paris
and London
and the bridge in your garden
almost undistinguishable
from the sky
all muted into the
grayblues
	that finally
		disappear
			into night.

	- Fran Claggett-Holland
