A Moment Of Grace

Every once in a while
it comes as a surprise
and we slip into a moment
when the weight we carry
in our sinews and bones
loosens its grip
as if gravity for a brief time
was on vacation
and we float above the regrets and anxieties
that accumulate in every life
and sense we are more than this earthbound form
In which we parade
as we dutifully fulfill our daily obligations
To family, career and place.

The air has a sweetness in those moments
that lands softly on our skin
and the eye opens wide to the beauty
that goes unattended in our busy lives.

A hummingbird performing his familiar dance
hovering and darting among the flowers
becomes a portal through which we may enter
into the mystery, abundance and wonder of creation.
We’re lighter and more expansive in that moment
more grateful to be alive
graced and embraced by a loving presence
and the only prayer that is appropriate is…

THANK YOU
