It’s time to take up arms
arms so long they wrap
around the world
all of it, even the parts
you thought untouchable
until now you held
at arm’s length
pushing away that
which was other
not welcome
not understood
not known
but now feel just
how long your arms
have always been
as long as your heart
is big or allowed to be
which is to say infinite
if you dare reach
for all the beauty
holding all the pain
arm in arm with all
who dare to feel
the unfolding of open arms
until even your own arms
reach around finding
the soft embrace
of holding yourself
with it all.
