Crèche
You can build one anywhere,
but the heart would be my place of choice.
For a savior fits so conveniently
where the beast has chewed away enough straw
to make a hollow the size of an infant
desire, dream, and revolution.
The beast can be useful.
What is taken away makes room for a long
awaited birth.
A light streams down from above and up from below,
drawing together the help needed.-
angels, wise women and men,
shepherds for those parts of us
still straying into doubt, fear, contempt,
counting up losses, injustice and tragedies.
We must persist.
We must ask the hard questions.
We must render the hard answers.
And the child asked:
What is this place?
What is the ocean?
Can I stand by you?
We answer the child:
This place in time is
our shore of truth meeting.
The ocean is our Mother.
The earth is our Home.
We are her Guardians..
A savior is someone who saves you,
who says :
I shall pull you free,
from under the cold dark waves.
Over and over again,
I shall pull you free.
We shall stand by you
within this crèche
that is the heart.
