Sanity's Sake
She carried bricks
on her head
in India
Water jugs
In Ghana
The visual memory
brought her
to her movement
as she balanced
a soft pillow
on her head
She picked
persimmons
in California
and guavas
in Mexico
Juicing the fruit
brought her musings
to the waterfall
in Costa Rica
a roadside stand
for refreshments
Life as an exchange
of memory mixed
with present time
as embellishment
Imaginative fiction
for sanity's sake
