Ode to the Sky

Today the sky seamstress
has spun the clouds into numberless
puffs, stretched them across the north,
then fluffed and shirred them onto cloth
of salmon, mauve, and cobalt blue.

At night, she relinquishes the tapestry
to the moon and the stars, who prick their way
into black felt, luminous and numinous.
