Human, Being
Humans, now, being,
plain to see, so seriously
embarked from bits
boiling up from
big bang laughable
billions of eons
gone by,
to today’s travails,
are questing and querying
as all and always
of every species has.
All, or most, or many,
well, some along the way
have wished
wandering weren’t so
lost and tenderness
more prevail
in our loins and longings
that drill deep within our days.
Easy it is to
tempt the fates and
invent the states
of cleverness
incommensurate with
stark mortality
that stalks us,
impossible as life,
but it has not sufficed.
I wish I had some answers,
else I would sell them to you
for a tuppence to the
thousands you many pay
the many pipers playing
their sugar tunes.
As it is, what words worth
more than dust will
make a dent,
will rend the veil,
will pierce the shallow surface,
and allow more than
wise pronouncements
of relinquishment and revelation.
I would despair but what use
when tomorrow I will die and
today is happening?
