The Sun Is With Us

where are we in relation to infinity
that's the question I ask myself today
I know shamans ponder on this
& certainly C.G. Jung stated that question
directly as in what truly matters is if
one is connected to a sense of
the infinite and surely it may help
to get beyond the current U.S. political scene
so I think about what's important for me
in relation to my own future since this country
appears to be on a significant authoritarian shift
and who knows when the pendulum will swing
back to the left or even the true place possibly
to govern here - the middle - balance is there
opinions and conspiracy everywhere with
a president who lies as bottom line
he's made a corrupt living at it even
though he'll fade he's cruel and crazy
many folks have gone astray with him
I'm over here thinking about infinity
or spirit in a true sense the solid and real
connection with soul and life purpose
beyond American politics enjoy the moon
and the great changing sky the sun is with us
John P. O'Grady and I have been talking about
the inherent falling off in tone and power
of political poems so I'll tell you straight up
this is not a political poem this is a poem
about you and and your relationship to
the source of life to infinity and this is
a poem about you and me and how
we stand in the world looking within
looking to the great eons of time
what was it that Lewis MacAdams
wrote about Coyote, he said,
"me and my friends are doing fine"
so sneak around the edges now
sunshine wisdom begin anew
wherever you go soul world
imagination star redwood tree
here nearby and Astoria, Oregon
Bar Harbor, Maine, Tecopa, California
your beauty ways everyday news
scrub pines on Cape Cod summer summer
thinking of you sitting in the window seat
thinking of you in the great world
out among the juniper trees
desert stones 118 degrees in
Death Valley today seek the shade
your own mind wherever you are
with your dance with your dream
with your vision of infinity
