Cast up on Calypso's shore,
Your comrades lost along the way,
You drink the finest wines
And savor the sweetest fruits.
This life of ease is yours:
All the charms the nymph can offer.
Yet you walk the sand, weeping,
Dreaming only of far-off Ithaka.
Do you know how greatly
your tears move the gods?
Each day your longing
Brings you closer to home.
